Brief Description
CIS 212 covers design and production of Web sites using Adobe Dreamweaver, an industry standard for Web development. Past students describe the class as exciting and rewarding.
Here are examples of recent student work.
Learn Online or Face-to-Face
CIS 212 is offered online and face-to-face hybrid (with 2 online hours per week). I will teach both the face-to-face section and the online sections in the Fall 2009 semester.
Online students need to have access to a reliable computer with a high bandwidth Internet connection and Dreamweaver CS4 (CS3 is ok, but you will have to adjust to small differences between learning materials and Dreamweaver interface). See How an Online Class Works for details.
Fall 2009
Spring classes begin August 24. The web site and Blackboard will not be updated until the semester begins.
Here's what you can do in August before class begins:
- send me an e-mail after you enroll -- attach a photo of you (200 x 200 pixels if you know how)
- complete the student information form
- purchase textbooks
- If you have never used Blackboard, watch the demonstration videos.
- If you wish, watch the Web Site Overview.
- ONLINE STUDENTS:
- Purchase and install Dreamweaver CS4 (see collegebuys.org for academic pricing). YOU MUST HAVE ACCESS TO DREAMWEAVER CS4 or CS3 TO COMPLETE THIS CLASS! Some students use campus labs, but most install on their own computers.
- Login to Blackboard and complete ONLINE ORIENTATION and do everything listed in WEEK 1 of the online schedule.
Blackboard is used for class management (quizzes, grades, turning in work, discussion), so part of the online orientation assignment is to do some things in Blackboard. All course Web pages link to the Blackboard login. Let me know if you are unable to log in to Blackboard (after class begins) with your college user name (usually first.last) and PIN (usually 6-digit birthday).

It will probably take a few weeks to get used to how I do things. Plan to spend a little extra time at first and don't hesitate to email or stop in during office hours if you feel lost. That's why I get the big bucks. :-)
