Welcome to
Illinois River Pottery
Who We Are...
In the early 90's, Mary and George Perez left city life to begin anew in the beautiful wooded country on the banks of the sparkling Illinois River. There they built their home, workshop and studio, where Mary creates her strong and functional pottery. The idyllic life and connection with the earth is reflected in Illinois River Pottery, simply adorned and without affectation.
How We Produce Our Pottery...
We use two favorite clays and prefer to keep only four or five glazes in use at any time. Dried pots are bisque fired in an electric kiln, then dipped or sprayed with glaze. Pieces are then fired to the medium stoneware range, the low energy alternative to traditional firing.
What Are Our Products...
Our beautiful daily use, or everyday pottery, represents the key value of Illinois River Pottery. ases, teapots, mugs and bowls have a comfortable heft and a warming presence! See more here!
