Welcome, Boston Terrier lovers! This site is an informational site to help you learn more about all things Boston Terrier. Inside you will find resources for adoption, and tips on how to keep your little gentleman healthy and happy.
Known as the "American Gentleman" of dogs, the Boston Terrier was the first American-bred dog accepted by the American Kennel Club. If you consider yourself a fan of Americana, this is the perfect dog for you!
Bostons generally weigh between 15-25 lbs, and stand 15-17 inches tall. They are known for their "tuxedo" look: a mostly black coat, with patches of white on the chest, tummy, and face, as shown in the photo above. While the American Kennel Club states that these markings are desired, a true Boston Terrier may also have brindle or seal coloring. Boston Terriers have a flat, square head, with a short nose and a large mouth. They are known for their expressions, and have been described as having a look of intelligence.
Boston Terriers are a very intelligent and social breed. When not properly trained, they can develop "little dog" syndrome, and adopt an attitude of dominance over the household. It is important to train your Boston well to get the best out of this sometimes too-smart dog. With the proper training, they can be one of the most loveable and fun dogs money can buy.
