Megan McCoy's 212 Class Work

Assignments:
- Hand Coded HTML Page
This was our first project experimenting with website design and building using basic HTML. Learning the proper codes for formatting your page (i.e. headers, paragraphs, links, etc.) was the main objective for this particular assignment.
- Week 3 Practice
This was our first experiment in website "design," we learned out to make our websites more visually appealing by adding background colors, images, and text color. This is important as it makes the page more user-friendly.
- Week 4 Practice
This week we learned a little more about inserting images into our web pages and the importance of using alternative text. We also learned about adding links to external sites into our own web pages. This is a nice feature to include in web pages as it provides further resources for visitors to your page.
- Week 5 Practice
Here we began our quest with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). There are many advantages to using CSS. It is much more efficient and you can quickly change the look of an entire site by editing one style sheet.
- Week 6 Practice
In this quick, warm-up exercise, we practiced creating a single style sheet and applying them to multiple pages.
- Image Lab
In this assignment, we learned different ways to modify images
to improve their download time by re-sizing, cropping, and optimizing them all in DreamWeaver.
- Lab: CSS Layout
In this lab we learned how to insert and edit div tags into our web pages. This helps to create a much more organized, much neater layout.
- Final Project Proposal
A table featuring content and information for my final project, including a flowchart and sketches of proposed layout.
- Hobby Project
In this project, we were asked to design and create a sample page for a hobby company.
Utilizing the CARP principles, the end result should be visually appealing and display proper use of web site design.
- Final Project
I decided to utilize the tools I learned this semester in developing an online portfolio of my work to aide in my job search. This project allowed me to personalize and develop my site based specifically on my own abilities.
