CIS 213 Notes:  Rollovers and Other Behaviors

Flash Text & Flash Buttons

This doesn't really belong in the "behaviors" category, but it's an interesting idea.  Dreamweaver will help you create Flash text and buttons with rollover effects.  These Flash objects use a separate file and can display a variety of fonts and colors.  Unlike regular text, Flash text does NOT require the end user to have the font installed, so Flash objects are a simple way to create titles and buttons.  The biggest disadvantage of Flash is that not everyone will have the correct Flash Plugin, so users might have to download one to see your text or buttons.  Use Flash objects only when you know your audience will have the plugins installed.

How to Create Flash Objects

Choose Flash Button or Flash Text from the Insert Menu.

Insert Flash

Experiment with the settings and save the file in the same folder as the page that displays it.   The Flash file format is swf.

To edit, just double click the file!

NOTE:  Each object needs a different file name, and don't forget to upload the swf files!
