Introduction
This assignment will give you some practice with design and exporting and implementing graphics in Dreamweaver. All of your semester work will be showcased on this site, so make sure your design is simple and uses a neutral color palette and an expandable design. Here are some examples from the end of the semester (note that these are not complete - instructions were different for these semesters).
Your site will include 4 pages that link to each other:
- homework.htm - examples of your class work and links to Fireworks textbook exercises
- links.htm - web design links that you gather through the semester and optional commentary
- bio.htm - a bit of information about you and your thoughts about web design
- notes.htm - notes for assigned chapters from the design textbook (these can be typed or scanned)
What to Do
- Use Dreamweaver File > New to create a 2 or 3-column homework page with file named 217portfolio.htm. 217portfolio.htm (and all other files) should be saved into a local root folder. If you are taking another Web course this semester, keep everything for this class in its own 217 folder within your local root. As you build your site, keep your files organized.
- Create and export a title graphic for 217portfolio.htm.
Choose an interesting font, include your name in the title, and be
sure to use at least one special effect. Make sure this image is less
than 960 pixels wide and 150 pixels high. Export this image as a GIF
or JPEG and insert it near the top of 217portfolio.htm.
- You will add links to class work as the course continues.
- Create a second page for links and notes: 217links.htm. You will use this page to save links to useful web sites you discover through the semester and any comments you have. You could think of it as a sort of online journal or blog or just a list of links.
- Create a third page for links and notes: 217bio.htm. Use this page to write a short bio about yourself, your interests, and your philosophy of web design. Write with potential employers and clients in mind.
- Create navigation for your pages in the sidebar. Use image rollovers or CSS Navigation (like Listamatic).
- Upload your site to the studentweb folder. Read the 212 site
management handout if needed.

Submitting work - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!
- Upload 217portfolio.htm and your image
files to the studentweb server. Don't forget to test your work on the
studentweb server!
- In Moodle, go to Submit Assignments, click the assignment title, and enter your full URL for your 217portfolio.htm page. Your URL should look like this:

Grading - 50 points
