Modify the page title

The title of a file — not its file name — appears in the title bar of most Web browsers. The page title is EXTREMELY important because it shows up in folders view and is used by search engines. The title is also used when someone bookmarks your page (Netscape) or adds it to their list of favorites (IE).  You can modify the title of a file without modifying its file name.

  1. With the file open in Page view, right click the page, click Page Properties on the shortcut menu, and then click the General tab.
  2. In the Title box, type the title of the file that you want to appear in the title bar.

In other views, you can right click the file name to get to page properties.  In Folders view, you can slowly click twice on the page title to change it.
